Golden Awards Evening at Stirling Castle

Gold Award at Stirling Castle

Last week, Meldrum was presented with the prestigious Gold Armed Forces Covenant at a glamorous awards ceremony at Stirling Castle.

We joined 15 other organisations who also had their outstanding commitment to the Armed Forces recognised and were also being presented with their Gold award.

The event was held in the Great Hall at Stirling Castle on November 3.

The regional event was hosted jointly by Highland and Lowland Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Associations.

Nationally, only 156 organisations received the award this year.

The Gold award was presented by Major General Wright and music was provided by Private Murray from 7SCOTS and The Royal Marines Scotland Corps of Drums.

The Gold Armed Forces Covenant represents the highest badge of honour available by the Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme.

The Gold accolade is awarded to businesses that pledge & demonstrate outstanding support towards the Armed Forces community.

We join our sister company, McLeod Glaziers, which also holds the Gold award.

We join a very exclusive list of only 642 businesses in the UK that have the Gold Covenant.

It’s an unbelievable achievement to share the same accolade with some of the UK’s largest and most well-known companies, Amazon, Barclays & Microsoft to name a few.

To qualify for the gold award, organisations must provide at least 10 extra paid days leave for Reservists and have supportive HR policies in place for veterans, Reserves, and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers, as well as spouses and partners of those serving in the Armed Forces.

Organisations must also advocate the benefits of supporting those within the Armed Forces community by encouraging others to sign the Armed Forces Covenant and engage in the Employer Recognition Scheme.
