Meldrum Construction was delighted to be the main Design and Build contractor on an exciting project in Inver, Dunkeld, Perthshire. The project involved an extension to the main building and also internal alterations.
Inverbraan Cottage is a C-Listed building and was originally built in the early 1800s. Historically, the cottage was home to Scottish naturalist Charles Macintosh between 1839 and 1922. Known as ‘the Perthshire Naturalist’, Charles was a musician and self-taught amateur naturalist.
Our client wished to upgrade and modernise the facilities to better suit their ever-changing needs. Internally, the project consisted of merging the current kitchen and lounge area into one open-plan space, creating a new utility room and re-designing two bathrooms.
Externally, a new timber cladded entrance porch was erected. The porch has significant historic value, as the original cottage also had a timber cladded porch, but this was knocked down in the late 1960s.
It was our client’s intention to recreate the original timber annex and incorporate its use into a modern living environment.
